A gay CNN reporter has ended up severely injured after falling from the third floor of a building after allegedly leaving work early to meet a man from a dating app.

Brazilian media reported how Izaias Godinho, 32, had one of his first live appearances on CNN Brazil, which he recently joined, but then left the office during working hours to meet his date on 23rd May.

His colleagues said that he suddenly vanished from the workplace and was gone for the rest of the day after he initially showed up on the morning news program earlier.

According to reports, Izaias and the unknown man supposedly arranged to meet at a building located in Asa Norte (North Wing), an LGBT-friendly neighbourhood with hip bars and clubs in Brasilia.

But what was supposed to be a romantic encounter turned into a tragedy when the 32-year-old fell from the third floor of the building, approximately 12 meters (39 feet) above ground.

Izaias was transported to the Hospital de Base do Distrito Federal (HBDF) and underwent immediate surgery. He is reportedly in critical condition.

The Civil Police launched a probe into the incident but have yet to disclose details regarding the cause of the fall.

They mentioned they would question the apartment owner as part of the inquiry. However, it remains undisclosed whether Izaias’ date is the owner.

The investigation continues.
