Stolen Jewellery And Gold Found Stashed In Bread Of Romanian Pair During Swiss Border Check
Swiss border officers found valuable stolen jewellery and a gold coin hidden inside a loaf of bread being carried across the border by a pair of Romanians during a vehicle check at a crossing.
The items were discovered after staff from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security stopped a France-registered car at the Sankt Margrethen crossing, Switzerland, with the incident linked to a burglary reported in Zurich, Switzerland, on 19th November, according to officials on 24th November.
The authorities said the driver and passenger, both Romanian nationals, were subjected to a routine check.

They said officers found various pieces of jewellery, watches and a Goldvreneli, an old Swiss franc made of gold, in the engine compartment and inside the cabin.
They said some of the items were hidden inside a loaf of bread and that the two individuals and the suspected stolen goods were handed to St Gallen Cantonal Police.
They said St Gallen officers then passed the case on to Zurich Cantonal Police for further investigation.
